… und gerade die haben hier in Boxhill eine gute Chance aufgenommen zu werden. Denn es gilt die gute britische pädagogische Tradition vom Schüler auszugehen und ihn dabei zu unterstützen, seine vollen Potenziale zu entfalten. Das ist an britischen Internaten eigentlich selbstverständlich. Dennoch kommen Erinnerungen auf an eine ganz und gar nicht britische Tradition:
Nämlich die der deutschen Landerziehungsheime. Und das kommt nicht von Ungefähr, gehört Boxhill doch zum exklusiven Club der Round-Square-Schulen, die der deutsche Pädagoge Kurt Hahn gegründet hatte mit weltweit inzwischen Schule.
Ganz in der Nähe von London und dem Flughafen Gatwick gelegen, haben in Box Hill auch die Schüler eine Chance aufgenommen zu werden, die nicht gerade zu den Strebern in ihrer alten Klasse gehörten. Und trotzdem haben sie dann eine sehr realistische Chance, ein gutes IB (International Baccalaureate) abzulegen. Dieses international hoch anerkannte Abitur wird in Box Hill nämlich neben den traditionellen englischen A-levels angeboten.
Vielleicht ist nicht alles auf architektonischem Höchstniveau, aber die Schüler identifizieren sich intensiv mit ihrer Schule, und sie fühlen sich “at home“. Box Hill kann sicher als eine der herzlichsten und familiärsten boarding schools im Königreich angesehen werden. Das ist sicher auch ein Verdienst der enorm engagierten Lehrer.
Dazu tragen auch die in den letzten Jahren aus dem Boden gestampften neuen Gebäude (Music-Center, Bibliothek, etc.) bei, die dieser altehrwürdigen Schule einen modernen Touch verleihen.
Wem die Nähe zu London wichtig, wer ein ganz normaler Schüler ist und Lust auf eine England-Erfahrung und vielleicht sogar einen englisch-sprachigen Abschluss hat, für den ist Box Hill sicher eine sehr gute Alternative.
